Abstract

Within the international professional exhibition EuroTier, held in November 2016, was a lecture and subsequent panel discussion entitled „Dairy market and power: who influences the price of milk“? Its aim was to provide those interested in this issue qualified overview of the current situation on the dairy market and convey the views and opinions of representatives of farmers on the development of milk production in the coming period. At the topicality of the theme shows the participation of more than 100 participants. Unified view of all participants in the discussion concerned the important role of the dairies in improving the situation on the milk market. The current situation on the milk market dealt with A. Grau. He focused on the abolition of quotas, structural changes in the breeding of dairy cows and milk processing, milk prices to fall, and others. Between 2014 and 2015 increased milk production in Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands between 6 and 8%, in the Czech Republic, Denmark and Poland by 2-4%, in the EU and in the world of 2%, in Austria, Germany and France about 1.0, 0.8 and 0.2% and a decrease in production is recognized in Sweden. L. Berger pointed to the increase in the volume of milk production in many countries, loss of export markets, low purchasing price of raw milk in Germany, and others. L. Schubert presented the view that the functioning of the market determines the price of milk supply and demand, respectively the main problem of low milk prices is unsuited offer its demand.
