Abstract

Productive life of the beef cattle affects a profitable of herd. The aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters of the beef cattle productive life which could be later used for prediction of breeding values. Database of performance testing of 64 thousand of cows between 1995 and 2014 was used to analyze. Productive life was defined as the number of calvings in the age of 90 and 160 months. Genetic parameters of population were estimated. In spite of the heritability of this trait is low (0,049-0,094), the variability in population allows subsequent selection based on breeding values.
