Selection programs oriented on growth intensity without monitoring the effectiveness of feed use in ad libitum feeding can lead to a reduction in daily feed intake, which is not desirable in the long run. Technological development in automatic feeding box systems enables direct use of feed intake parameters in the breeding process. The aim of the methodology was to use data from feeding stations and to develop a system of genetic evaluation of feed intake and apply it to the routine system of estimating the breeding values of pigs included in the national breeding program CzePig.
