Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the level of dustiness and microbial contamination of the environment in selected buildings for small ruminants housing. The concentration of dust particles in the building to housing the small ruminants ranged from 0.015 to 1.460 mg/m3 of PM10 and from 0.018 to 3.319 mg/m3 for PM2.5 during individual macroclimatic period. The highest concentrations of the PM10 and PM 2.5 was found during the mild winter. In contrast, in sheep stables were shown the lowest values for PM10 and PM2.5 fraction during the frozen winter. Compared to other livestock species were in small ruminants detected low levels of the dustiness and the total bacterial count in stable air. Yeast and mould counts were lower in the building for goats housing (from
