Abstract

Based on the data from 107 Czech dairy farms (average herd size 572 cows) in 2017 the following average production indicators were found: milk yield 8,507 l of milk per cow, fat and protein contents 3.94 and 3.50%, respectively, pregnancy after the first insemination of cows and heifers 60.7 and 41.2%, respectively, age at first calving 784 days, days open and calving interval 111 and 394 days, respectively, herd turnover rate 34.1%, and loss of calves until weaning 5.1%. The identified variability of indicators showed the potential of further improvement of the results achieved. The indicators were analysed in terms of herd size, breed, herd turnover and production area. The results were completed with the data from the Czech Statistical Office related the milk production in enterprises of different legal forms as well as EU and Czech data on the international trade in raw milk.
