Abstract | The need of a uniform evaluation of maize hybrids was an impetus of the development of the system, in which maize hybrids were harvested at the same stage of maturity. A joint project of the evaluation of maize hybrids was developed under the supervision of the company Zemědělský výzkum Troubsko s.r.o. (Agricultural Research Institute Troubsko Ltd.) The aim of experiments performed in Troubsko and Prague-Uhříněves was to compare hybrids showing early and medium early maturity as well as stay–green and uniformly maturing ones, those with different types of endosperm (i.e. floury and glassy) and different types of use (i.e. grown for silage or grain production). In years 2012 – 2014, approximately 20 different hybrids were tested in both localities. Tests and the evaluation of hybrids were performed using uniform methods. The final result of these efforts was the development of a certified methodology that is available for all interested practitioners free of charge. Differences between tested hybrids are presented with regard to individual localities and years. |
