Abstract

Monitoring for the occurrence and selection for congenital malformations are part of a number of breeding programs. In the Czech national program CzePig, the negative selection of the animal (or selection of the entire litter) is applied for the case of congenital malformations in pigs and occurrence of such traits is not centrally recorded since the end of genetic control of health in 2011. Therefore, the aim of the methodology is to analyze possibilities of monitoring developmental defects (as representatives of the health traits) and to create the system of registration of their occurrence in pigs.
