Abstract

The aim of this work was to study the influence of surrounding structures on temperature in cubicles for cows‘ housing. Surface temperatures of cubicles (straw) in lateral and central rows were studied in two different types of cowsheds by infrared thermography; Processed results of measurements showed that difference between the surface temperatures of cubicles in lateral and central rows are not statistically important. Both construction systems of cowsheds can be recommended for use in dairy farms, because there is not significant difference between temperatures in cubicles. Dairy cows do not suffer by thermal discomfort lying down during the rest
