The article summarizes the current applications of genomics in cattle breeding. It discusses the current methods of genotyping, the principle of SNP detection on the chip, genomic breeding value estimation and benefits or inconvenience of genomics application in cattle breeding. Aim of this article is to increase the knowledge of the breeders about the possibilities of using genomics in cattle breeding.
