Abstract

Compliance with the principles of nutrition of nursing piglets after birth form the basis of future performance. Each farmer aims to produce healthy and viable piglets that do well on colostrum and milk as soon as possible after birth, piglets which are characterized by good development and growth. During the period of lactation breeder must accustom piglets for receiving the complete feed. He usually begins within 1 week of age piglets. All measures carried out by the farmer with piglets in the period from birth to weaning are focused on achieving of optimal weaning weight of piglets and ensuring an adequate intake of feed mixture at the time of weaning. Piglets that are well prepared for weaning achieve good growth intensity after this period.
