Quality feed is an important condition for ensuring adequate growth and development of animals and for obtaining quality food. The problem is to ensure a sufficient amount of quality food for the human population and quality feed for livestock. With the rising price of some feed components, various alternatives are being sought, especially for the protein component, which in feed mixtures consists mainly of soy. The use of animal proteins is restricted by law in the European Union. The article describes selected alternatives, the possibility of their use in feed for pigs and also the risks associated with their use.
