The year 2020 was in the „wake of the COVID-19 pandemic“ and government actions capped a number of activities affecting, among others, events held for the public. Some planned activities had to be cancelled, others took the form of webinars and videoconferences, some events were postponed.
The TECHAGRO, SILVA REGINA and BIOMASA fairs, where our research institute traditionally presents its activities, will not be held until 2022. Most of the national and international conferences have been cancelled at all, project meetings have moved to virtual environment. The restrictions also significantly affected the actual scientific work. A number of experiments had to be modified or carried out under conditions imposed by government restrictions. But this critical year can be seen also optimistically – much has been done, much we have learned. In this difficult time, it was for most of us a great benefit to learn how to use new technologies in communication. However, face-to-face meetings are irreplaceable and therefore, hopefully this year will be more optimistic.
