On 13th February 2023, a public scientific debate was held at the Institute of Animal Science, opposing the periodic report on the use of institutional support to implement the Long-Term Conceptual Development of a Research Organisation (Czech acronym “DKRVO“) for the period 2018 – 2022. Within the DKRVO, 15 research proposals (RP) were addressed in accordance with the plan, which were focused on the objectives formulated in the Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I) Concept of the Ministry of Agriculture for 2016 – 2022.
The research proposals addressed issues related to the genetic evaluation of livestock, including the use of molecular genetics techniques, biotechnology in livestock reproduction, livestock nutrition, quality and safety of livestock products, livestock ethology and welfare, livestock technology and production environment, and cattle and pig production systems. Attention was also paid to economic analyses in the areas of the main commodities of livestock production. As for sustainable resources, the focus was on increasing livestock productivity while maintaining the sustainability of farming in terms of animal welfare and environmental impacts and ensuring sufficient healthy food for the population.
