Annual Meeting of COST – European Network on Livestock Phenomics (EU-LI-PHE)

The annual meeting of COST CA22112 (EU-LI-PHE) took place on July 9–11, 2025, at the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium. The Institute of Animal Science (VÚŽV) was represented by Ing. Ludmila Zavadilová, CSc., and Dr. Ing. Jitka Kyselová (both from the Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding), who served as representatives of the Czech Republic on the event´s management committee.
During the meeting, the multidisciplinary community of experts addressed issues of livestock phenotyping with the aim of improving the sustainability and competitiveness of the European livestock sector. The annual meeting was held in connection with the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF PRODUCTION DISEASES IN FARM ANIMAL (Leuven, Belgium, July 8–11, 2025). On Friday, July 11, the EU-LI-PHE Stakeholder Meeting – “Tackling the phenotyping bottleneck in livestock genetics” – took place, attended by Ing. Ludmila Zavadilová, CSc., and Dr. Ing. Jitka Kyselová, together with two representatives of Chovservis, a.s., Ing. Lenka Matěnová and Ing. Lucie Vitíková.
This seminar, primarily intended for breeders, presented various research activities concerning new phenotypes and the application of genetic methods in breeding, including practical applications in livestock husbandry.
