The project aims to reduce antibiotic consumption by implementing a comprehensive methodology for the cow udder health management, including selective drying-off and targeted mastitis therapy based on diagnosing the bacterial background of farms. The second objective, linked to the detailed results of bacterial diagnostics in the VÚŽV experimental herd, is to verify the in vivo efficacy of an enzymatic intramammary preparation against staphylococcal mastitis and to optimise its application form and production costs for use in practice as an alternative to antibiotic treatment. The project will also involve developing new enzymes that are effective against the main agents of streptococcal mastitis and creating a hydrogel carrier for the controlled release of these enzymes.
