The global disease situation in pig industry is serious due to the spread of African swine fever. The development of an effective vaccine against this highly infectious viral disease is therefore highly urgent. Scientists approach vaccine development with many different strategies. The article gives the breeders an overview of the situation and prospects of fight with African swine fever.
