The last calibration of methods for pig carcass grading was carried out in the Czech Republic in 2012. However, in recent years, as a result of breeding, the lean meat content and slaughter weight of slaughter pigs in the entire population have changed. For this reason, it was necessary to recalibrate all equipment and methods so that they correspond to the current pig population in the Czech Republic. This was one of the main objectives of the project NAZV QK 22020132 New methods for classifying pig carcasses, which, among other things, enabled the introduction of a new pig grading method for the Czech Republic – the FOM II equipment. The final result is Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/241 of 7 February 2025, on the basis of which the individual methods of the SEUROP system approved for the Czech Republic were updated.
