Abstract

The largest source of protein for farm animals is extracted scraps, to a lesser extent legumes or waste from the food industry. One of the factors that affects the quality of protein is the composition of amino acids. This is key to the success of the economy in farm animals. Only an ideal composition of crude protein in the diet of farm animals can ensure the full use of the modern genotypes. While the EU is more than 70% self-sufficient in the production of roughage, the protein component of the feed covers only 2% of the acreage. The article describes various alternative sources of protein, such as lupine, SCP, insect protein and more.
