Abstract

The aim of presented study is the assessment of the impact of selected bioclimatological parameters (air temperature and relative humidity of the air, air movement) on the thermal comfort of newborn lambs in the two different sheep stable. The air temperature, the relative humidity of the air and the air movement were measured in the living zone of lambs at established intervals (during the birth, after the first suckling, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 hours after birth). At the same time the rectal and the body surface temperatures were detected in 71 lambs. Detected values were statistically assessed by methods of covariance analysis using the Statistica software. According the obtained data there were proved the statistically significant differences in the thermal comfort of newborn lambs between the monitored sheep stables. The average body surface temperature of the newborn lambs in the I. sheep stable was significantly lower due to significantly greater cooling in compared with lambs in the II. sheep stable.
