Abstract

Keeping of the good husbandry practices in dairy sheep breeding is one of the prerequisites for maintaining good health of the herd and for achieving the genetically determined productive and reproductive performance of sheep with the aim of production of biologically full-value, healthy and safe raw materials and foodstuffs of animal origin. This handbook deals with the selection of breed and the sustainable breeding environment, including the technological systems, the principles of good nutrition and feeding of sheep according to each age categories, the production of sheep milk and its processing, the management of the herd. Choice of an appropriate strategy of breeding management is an essential condition for achieving economic profitability and to improve the competitive advantages of dairy sheep farms.
