The aim of this article was to describe the wildlife ranching and game meat production and processing in South Africa. The wildlife ranching industry is a dynamically developing sector of livestock that contributes to job creation, conservation of herbivores and overall biodiversity. Meat processing on farms is also described as well as the production of traditional South African meat products.
