The Přeštice Black Pied pig is an original breed that originated in Western Bohemia and was recognized in 1964.Since the breed was included in the genetic resources of animals in 1994, special conditions apply to its breeding. The population of the genetic resource is maintained according to the principles formulated in the Methodology approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. The goal of breeding is to stabilize the monitored performance traits. Within the framework of breeding, two basic categories of animals are distinguished – purebred (all animals whose parents and grandparents were registered in the main section of the herd book) and genetic source (purebred animals bred in recognized breeding farms of the GZ, in which performance control is carried out from birth).
