Abstract

This paper is focused on a comprehensive assessment of veterinary protection of public health and zootechnical aspects of pig breeding in accordance with the principles of ecological farming. Animals are situated in the context of ecological farming in a closed cycle. Food comes mainly from its own ecological farm, and therefore should be kept on an ecological farm just so many animals that is able to sustain itself own farm feed production. Pig husbandry in ecological farms uses natural rearing systems that maintain the conditions of welfare and protection of animals from suffering, pain and damage to health. In ecological agriculture is much more difficult compliance with veterinary-sanitary precautions. Their failure can result in increased morbidity of animals mainly due to the infectious and parasitic diseases.
