Abstract

The shortcomings in hygiene, housing, keeping and nutrition are often a big part of reasons of the calf and heifer diseases. They usually result in respiratory, locomotive or digestion disorders. Every disease causes economical losses – lower milk yield, early culling, emergency slaughters and mortality. For the conditions in the CR, the direct financial losses can be estimated at 37 to 38 Czech korunas per one feeding day and at 750 to 800 Czech korunas per one sexual cycle.
