Abstract

The methodology summarises the procedure and methods for estimating genetic parameters and predicting genomic breeding values for four resilience indicators: variance of daily milk yields, natural logarithm of variance, lag-1 autocorrelation and skewness of daily deviations from the individually fitted lactation curve. The input databases and the processing of the input data are described. A model equation is proposed and a variance-covariance matrix is estimated on a data sample. Heritabilities, genetic and phenotypic correlations between indicators are calculated. The structure of the genomic relationship matrix and its integration into the estimation of breeding values is described. The processing of the results is proposed, including the calculation of relative breeding values and approximation of the reliability of the estimate. A model calculation is included in the appendix, and for the obtained breeding values of resilience indicators their correlations with traits included in the Holstein selection index are given.
