Abstract

The book summarizes the knowledge about silage losses. Field and harvest losses are mainly caused by non-technological discipline during harvest and transport chop the storage place. Additional losses occur when storing silage chop up the space in the fermentation silo or drain silage. Much can be lost in the process of feeding the finished silage to livestock. Losses are affected by many factors, most of which are described and discussed in detail. The book contains recommendations on how to measure losses or at least make a qualified estimate. A key chapter is the recommendation on how to reduce losses.
