Abstract

Silage is usually a struggle with time and weather. This also applies to the corn harvest. The right timing of the harvest ensures the optimal amount of dry matter and energy in the silage. Starting the harvest a little earlier is usually better than waiting too long. It is said that even the best robot will not replace the eye of an experienced agronomist, who carefully pays attention to everything that happens in the field throughout the vegetation. However, it turns out that even the eye of an experienced agronomist is not able to recognize differences in the field, such as dry matter content in plants, mainly to estimate the variability of the entire stand. Sensors are starting to help the agronomist’s eye.
