Th e use of additives for maize silage becomes a common practice. Th ere are a large number of silage additives of biological, chemical and their combinations. Th e aim of the thesis was to test a few selected additives for silage maize, which is harvested at the almost ideal dry matter content. Th e results show that diff erences in nutrient content and fermentation quality between silage with diff erent additives and silage without them are not signifi cant. Th e use of additives is only recommended as a risk reduction. However, if aerobic stability was assessed by the increasing the temperature aft er exposing the silage to air, all silage with additives tested had better aerobic stability than the control silage without additives.
