Abstract

Hemp has a wide range of uses. However, in the twentieth century, its cultivation was highly regulated due to its psychoactive substances. A renewed interest in this plant has only been noted in recent years. From a nutritional point of view, it is valued for its high-quality protein content, fatty acid profile with an appropriate ratio of ω-6/ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and other bioactive substances. In the field of egg production, it has promising potential to improve the health of laying hens, especially bone strength, and egg quality by storing substances important for extending the shelf life of eggs. The safe and beneficial concentration of hemp seed in mixed feed for laying hens is 3%.
