Abstract

The effect of the linear description of the shape characteristic of goat udder on the milk production and somatic cell count was evaluated. In total, 487 white short-haired goats were evaluated. Seven characteristic were determined – udder symmetry, udder depth, udder width, teat lenght, teat placement, rear udder attachement, udder cleft. The reults document that some traits od udder shape influence the somatic cell count and can be considered as functional traits indicating the animal health and her profitability.
