Abstract

The study is focused on the analysis of the relationship between purity of body surface area of dairy cows and the quality of raw milk. Monitoring took place during five months period on 100 cows in 10th farms with various technological systems with different level of rearing environment hygiene, feeding, watering and care of teats before milking. Purity of body surface area (tail head, upper rear limb, ventral abdomen, udder and lower rear limbs) was evaluated before milking the scale by Reneaua et al. The individual milk samples were collected for the determination of selected microbiological parameters (total bacteria count – TBC, coliform bacteria – CB, somatic cells count -SCC). The experimental data were analyzed by the StatSoft statistical package. Based on the obtained values it is possible to say that the level of hygiene of rearing environment directly affects the cleanness of the dairy cow body surface, respectively of their mammary glands and consequently the microbiological quality of milk.
