The MILK2024 methodology (Diepersloot et al., 2024; University of Wisconsin-Madison) evaluates the energy value of corn silage through predicted milk yield expressed in kilograms per tonne of silage dry matter (milk/Mg). Unlike traditional nutrient content assessment, it accounts for ruminal digestibility of fibre (NDFD, uNDF 240h) and starch (7h starchD), enabling more precise differentiation of silage quality. Adapted for Central European conditions and metric units as MILK2024-CZ (v. 1.0; www.vuzv.cz/pro-praxi, www.nutrivet.cz), the calculator classifies silages into five quality classes and provides NEL output compatible with the Czech feed evaluation system. Validation on Central European samples is ongoing within the NAZV QL26010434 project until 2030.
