Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the mineral contents of maize silages in the Czech Republic. Analyses of 529 samples of maize silages from the database of Ltd. AgroKonzulta Zamberk from the period 2007 to 2012 were included. Silages with high ash contents presented high mineral contents, whereas silages with high starch contents had lower contents of ash and minerals. Silages with high ratios of lactic acid to volatile fatty acids were characterized by low ash and mineral contents, especially potassium. Contents of individual minerals were lower than those reported in feed tables (Zeman et al., 1995, and Petrikovic et al., 2000).
