Abstract

Following immunoglobulins determination by radial immunodifussion (IgG- RID), total proteins (CB) and globulins in the group of 691 blood serum in calves is presented in the Czech Republic for the first time including their easy examination by universal refractometer that can be easy to implement right on the farm. Average, resp. mean value % Brix in the serum of examined calves was 8.6, resp. 8.5% Brix (1. quartile 7.9; 3. quartile 9.2% Brix). Correlation with IgG-RID was r = 0.75. Boundary value with the most balanced sensitivity and specificity 8.3% Brix indicated in line with the other observed parameters in 36.8% of the calves failure of passive immune transfer. In the situation of surface passive immune transfer monitoring is unlike traditional focus on unsatisfactory results discussed the possibility of new using of two (firm) boundary values in every parameter that is proposed to choose in the lower and upper quartile boundaries of quartile and to use them to effectively motivate workers.
