Abstract

The methodology’s objective is to design a genomic breeding value estimation procedure to increase resistance to foot and claw disorders, using a multi-trait animal model including information about the linear type traits and a one-step genomic estimation method. Three groups of foot and claw disorders were defined for the prediction of breeding values: infectious diseases, claw horn lesions and overall claw disorder. Linear type traits included: rear leg set (side view), foot angle, legs&feet, locomotion. The program used for the calculation is BLUPf90. The presented methodology gives datasets formation, a compilation of parameter files and processing of the solution file, including providing variation-covariate matrices.
