Verification of a pig fattening system with a mixture containing dried hops in operational conditions

Abstract | The usability of the pig fattening system with the mixture containing dried hops was verified in operational conditions. That is suitable especially for alternative farms with a requirement for a higher added value of the produced fattened pigs. The use of the mixture with the addition of dried hops at the level of 0.8 % did not affect the weight gains of finishing Prestice black-pied pigs. Due to lower feed consumption, nutrient conversion was slightly improved compared to the control group. The organoleptic evaluation of the carcasses revealed a reduction in odor at the slaughterhouse in pigs fed with a mixture with the addition of hops. Feeding the tested mixture enables the production of meat with a high nutritional value, especially in terms of fatty acid content. |
