Abstract

Pasture farming provides pigs with an optimal environment in which they can develop their natural behaviour, as encoded in their genetic make-up, depending on the conditions. It is for these aspects that pasture farming, involving a wide range of breeding practices, enjoys considerable public interest. Proper management and compliance with all the principles of good breeding are important preconditions for their successful operation, which is represented not only by the animals‘ welfare and health, but also by satisfactory production results.
