Abstract

Modern breeding strategies today use not only genomics and sexed semen as completely standard methods, but also OPU/IVF/ET methods, i.e. removal of oocytes from of selected cows, insemination in vitro and subsequent embryo transfer. At the world level, in the most developed countries in breeding, these methods are already relatively intensively used. Although it is a highly effective method of progressive breeding work, in the Czech Republic these methods have not yet found practical application due to high demands on material and equipment and expertise of workers in all stages of the OPU/IVF process. In cooperation of VÚŽV, v.v.i, INPLEM s.r.o. and 1. zemědělské a.s. The first transfer of four fresh embryos was carried out in Chorusice, and in July 2022 the first two heifers were born.
