Abstract

Model calculations based on the conditions of cattle breeding in the Czech Republic points to on average a better economic situation of breeding suckler cow than dairy cows. This fact is confirmed by development numbers of cows both categories. While in the years 2005 to 2015, suckler cows increased by 45%, the number of dairy cows in the same period decreased by nearly 13%. Economic support, that dairy farming and breeding suckler cows (not only in the Czech Republic) requires, should stimulate desirable development of both categories of cattle.
