Abstract | Production and economic conditions of pig farmers in Europe have been changed and functional and feed efficiency traits have become more important part of the selection schemes. The aim of the study was to revew how above mentioned changes are reflected by authorised breeders and wich traits actualy prefered as breeding objectives for pigs. Based on the authorised breeders, an contentment with the current selection scheme for the local pig population was confirmed. Next to the current breeding objectives, (growth, reproduction and meat quality) also the total numer of teats (63 % and 13 % of breeders), sperm quality (25 % of breeders for both populations), longevity of sows (38 %, and 0 % of breeders) and effective utilisatin of feed (38 % and 75 % of breeders) are preffered in dam and in sire population, respectively. Censidering the prefference points (weight) given to individual traits the variability was based on the population character (dam and sire breed) and number of preffered trais. |
