Abstract | Between 2004 and 2010 in the EU countries the numbers of pigs fell by about 5% and slaughter of pigs and pig meat production increased by about 4 to 5%, the same indicators in ČR decreased by 37, 32 and 35%. In almost constant consumption per capita over the same period of self-sufficiency in the production of pig meat in the EU increased by about 2%, in ČR decrease nearly by 32%. Among the measures that would improve this and other indicators of breeding pig in ČR, are in addition to other improving production indicators (number of piglets per sow and year, weight gain in fattening pigs, etc.) to reduce differences between EU countries in direct payments per hectare, higher domestic food consumption, political support of the agrarian sector, etc. |
