Abstract

The paper is focused on the analysis of the possibility of adaptation of animals to climate change with regard to their health and production of greenhouse gases, including preventive measures that reduce the negative effects of climate change. Livestock influence on climate is realized through a change of used land, feed production, animal production, excrements/manure/, and processing including animal transport. Animals can adapt to climate change through physiological, biochemical, immunological, anatomical, and behavioral responses. Adaptation strategies include genetic, physical, and modification of feed, pest, and livestock farming management. Livestock, in a comprehensive view absorb more carbon than it produces, helps reduce the carbon footprint of other industries.
