Abstract

Yearbook represents the most important information in cattle breeding in the Czech Republic in 2013 and points to trends over the past years. Details are dedicated to the production of milk where an increase totals milk production to 2,775 million liters per year and growth was also evident in the annual milk yield, which was for the year 2013 at the level of 7,443 liters of milk per cow per year. Total production of slaughter cattle fluctuated from 2010 to 2013 between 164 to 171 thousand tons. Despite the decline in domestic beef consumption (in 2013 to 116.7 thousand tons) was imported in this year around 41 thousand tons slaughter cattle (live weight) and beef (annual increase). Due to the development of cattle breeding in recent years and in 2013, the major task of this important agricultural sector consider stopping further reduce cattle numbers and a gradual increase in milk production and slaughter animal.
