Abstract | The workshop was to present to participants the reasons and possibilities of breeding for resistance to clinical mastitis and resistance to other diseases of dairy cattle. Dairy cow mastitis disease has a negative economic impact on the profitability of farming. The possibilities of breeding and its impact were showed and estimates of breeding values for mastitis resistance and their use for the selection of animals were demonstrated. The issue of collecting data on the state of health of cattle in connection with the performance recording was discussed. As an important part of total merit index, economic weight for resistance to mastitis was demonstrated and compared with the quantification of economic impacts on dairy farming. The last lecture was shown the current state of the database hoof diseases and outlines the possibilities of its use for breeding. |
