Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the number of biologically active sperm cells and the content of native sperm in insemination doses used for artificial insemination of sows for the whole year 2006.A sample of 4 crossbred Al boars of the same breedswas used for this purpose. The data of 206 semen collections and of 4933 Al doses were controlled. The number of biologically active sperm cells in all controlled Al doses exceeded the stated limit 1.5 x 10 to the 9th. The native sperm content was alsohigher than 10 % in all Al doses. These results indicate that the contemporary methodology for AI doses preparation in the Czech Republic allows the Al doses production with more than 10 % semen plasma content without stating of its content in the Czechguidelines for Al stations.
