| Abstract | Starter feeding is a very important element during calf rearing at the time of milk feeding period /rumen development/. The total starter amount accepted by calves is influenced by: milk amount (restricted dose of milk saves 600 – 800 CZK), hay, early starter serving (from 3rd day), structure and palatability (amount of rough protein and fibre), water serving (from 3rd day) etc. The article includes a description of the most frequent mistakes in dairy calf rearing in the Czech Republic. |
