The conference „Science and Research in Hippotherapy in the Czech Republic,“ organized by the Institute of Animal Science (VÚŽV, v.v.i.) in collaboration with the Czech Hippotherapy Society, took place on March 29, 2023. It served as a pilot event for bringing together research institutions and practitioners involved in scientific activities related to various aspects of hippotherapy (from body and mind therapies to the use of horses in educational and social contexts). Surprisingly, the attendance exceeded expectations, with a significant number of participants from outside the academic sphere expressing interest in collaborating with the veterinary and scientific sectors and applying research findings in practice. During the first part of the day, individual teams from research institutes and universities presented their work, facilities, and topics covering both the impact of hippotherapy on humans and horses.
