The present work is focused on the overview of the possibility of using a simple screening evaluation of lying stalls for dairy cows as an integral part of the welfare and health assessment in the form of a simple system of evaluation of selected indicators including the interpretation of the established facts. The use of information obtained through a simple analysis of the basic atributes of lying stalls (dryness, hardness), frequency of injury, and occurrence of abnormal behavior of dairy cows provide farmers a valuable information about the level of welfare and cow comfort during lying time.
