Abstract

The study is focused on the analysis of the relationship between the level of hygiene of breeding environment, cleanliness of the body surface area and goat’s milk quality. Monitoring took place during one lactation periods on the farm with 434 goats. Cleanliness of the goats body surface (tail head, upper rear limb, ventral abdomen, udder and lower rear limbs) was evaluated before milking according modified scales by Reneaua et al. After milking the individual milk samples were collected for the determination of selected microbiological parameters (total bacteria count – T6C, coliform bacteria – CB, somatic cells count – SCC). The experimental data were analyzed by the StatSoft statistical package. Based on the obtained values it is possible to say that the level of hygiene of rearing environment directly affects the cleanness of the body surface goats or their mammary glands and consequently the number of coliform bacteria in milk.
