Abstract | The objective of this study was to evaluate the associations on 33 commercial dairy herds of variable intensity in rearing dairy heifers as reflected in age at first calving (V10T) and herd milk yield level (MU) on selected production and reproduction traits and profitability. Management decisions regarding the replacement of the dairy cows may have a significant impact on the profitability of the farm. Earlier age at first calving occurred by greater rearing average daily weight gain did not always lead to higher profitability of costs. The most profitable rearing approach was reflected in the middle AFC (799 to 750 d). Milk yield level was a very important factor for dairy farm profitability of costs. The group of farms having the most milk productivity (MU > 8500 kg) achieved the highest net profit despite having greater fertility problems. |
